Student Safe Spaces Programme

Alag-Soch re-imagines every classroom space as a safe space where students can strive to be their best selves, not only professionally but also personally. Student Safe Spaces (SSS) are created by intertwining social and emotional learning (SEL) with schooling practices.

Our SSS programme is a year-long programme after which students will become self-aware of their beliefs, emotions, and habits, and strive to build self-resilience. Students will be exposed to social problems and will learn the design-thinking process to build a solution-based model.

A Safe Space is envisioned as a space created by the collaborative efforts of both students and teachers. This is a space devoid of any hierarchies and one which enables students to communicate freely about their various lived experiences. The inhabitants of a Safe Space are bound by terms of confidentiality. There is no room for judgement and empathy is upheld as a value. Here both students and teachers find the strength within themselves to be vulnerable, to be brave, and to empathize and learn from each other's experiences.

From Participants:

  1. Attend all the sessions and workshops.
  2. Submit worksheets and assessment timely.
